Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all!  Eat, eat some more, drink, and be merry! :-)

Be thankful for things and people you have in your life, and stop worrying about the things/people you don’t have in life.

Honorable Mention

I had to post this because I can’t get enough of it….

Gearing up…

…for another wedding!  YAY! My buddy Ryder and his fiancee Natalia are getting married on November 22nd 2009.

R&N

As always, I get nervous as hell before any wedding.  This will be my 3rd wedding that I’ve been asked to shoot as THE photographer.  Some folks don’t understand why I get so nervous (and yes I have confidence in my skills), but it’s not about that.  So let me explain :)

1) Weddings are SERIOUS business, there are NO second chances, NO do-overs; etc. You miss something important, you’re finished!  You screw up, you can ruin your business, a friendship, and anything negative that you can think of…say…lawsuit!
2) Weddings are hectic, the hustle and bustle of the day, nothing always goes as planned, it’s a very long day, you have to stay sharp, be attentive to EVERYTHING all whilst staying out of  the way and still “blending in”.
3) I don’t have a backup gear yet. So if anything dies during the day, I’M FINISHED!  Point & Shoots are just a no-no! LOL!

The above is why I’m a bit reserved about weddings, but I’ll only do small weddings, and no more than 100 people.  I really would like to get into wedding photography, so if anyone is reading this, and if you’re a wedding photographer, please give me a shout.  In the end, it’s the couple, and their families that will cherish your photos forever, and that feeling is priceless!!

RYDER IM READY, SO LETS DO IT!

Just some photography stuff…

It’s Friday afternoon at the day job, and doing my usual perusal of Flickr photo posts, and photographers websites.  Today, I visited George Weir’s site, looked through his photos and “borrowed” some of the photo captions…

“A good photograph is knowing where to stand.” -Ansel Adams, and with lots of practice and experience one knows where to stand.

“A real photographer sees light, and knows when to shoot, quietly and without becoming a distraction.”

“What type of cameras do you use?” It simply doesn’t matter what type or brand, what matters is the ability and skill of the person using it.

A great photographer knows and understands not only light and cameras but also people!

“You don’t take a photograph, you make it.” -Ansel Adams.

See, not everyone is or can be a photographer.  I have my supporters who say I’m a great photographer and that’s great, thanks!  However, I’m a good photographer, aspiring to be great!  Practice, practice, practice…

Nevaeh In November

Those Nevaeh boys and I linked up for an unusual nighttime shoot in Brooklyn on Friday that started around 10pm and ended around 2:30/3:00am.  Models, friends, and supporters came through, and you would have almost started to think that the shoot was going to turn into a party!  Good people, good music, good times, good photos.  Thanks to all that came out!!

Upcoming…

Nevaeh Jeans Company say they have some HEAT!  Well I want to see it!  We are teaming up this Friday, November 6th in Brooklyn for what I hope to be another successful shoot.  The Redemption shoot that took place in June 2009 was a hit, so now they have no choice but to outdo themselves…lol.  My impression of these guys has definitely gone up…they have stepped up their game in many many ways and I commend them for it.

You can check out their blog and find them on Twitter.  Let’s get it!!

Who’s That?

She is Lexi Ritsch, a New Yorker who resides in the East Village, a videographer, and a co-host for the new CollegeHumor show Crucial Man.

I teamed up once again with friend & 9-5 colleague Melinda Martinez to produce some outstanding casual/press photos!  The shoot was held at her residence on Saturday afternoon, and all went smoothly with a great outcome.  Here are some photos…enjoy! :)

You can see more of Lexi here.
