Gearing up…

…for another wedding!  YAY! My buddy Ryder and his fiancee Natalia are getting married on November 22nd 2009.

As always, I get nervous as hell before any wedding.  This will be my 3rd wedding that I’ve been asked to shoot as THE photographer.  Some folks don’t understand why I get so nervous (and yes I have confidence in my skills), but it’s not about that.  So let me explain :)

1) Weddings are SERIOUS business, there are NO second chances, NO do-overs; etc. You miss something important, you’re finished!  You screw up, you can ruin your business, a friendship, and anything negative that you can think of…say…lawsuit!
2) Weddings are hectic, the hustle and bustle of the day, nothing always goes as planned, it’s a very long day, you have to stay sharp, be attentive to EVERYTHING all whilst staying out of  the way and still “blending in”.
3) I don’t have a backup gear yet. So if anything dies during the day, I’M FINISHED!  Point & Shoots are just a no-no! LOL!

The above is why I’m a bit reserved about weddings, but I’ll only do small weddings, and no more than 100 people.  I really would like to get into wedding photography, so if anyone is reading this, and if you’re a wedding photographer, please give me a shout.  In the end, it’s the couple, and their families that will cherish your photos forever, and that feeling is priceless!!

RYDER IM READY, SO LETS DO IT!

Wow, when you put it that ways it sounds nerve wracking! I’ve known excellent photographers that avoid doing wedding photos for the same reasons you’ve stated above. It sounds like the payoff – knowing the families will love your photos forever – is worth the stress though. :) Have fun!
