Stuyvesant Heights Christian Church

In Late February, I was asked to shoot in and around the church for an upcoming showcase event.  If I recall correctly, these photos will be used at an event to attract potential couples to have their wedding at a venue/church of their choice.  The pastor of this church and his wife printed 12 8×10′s and 1 16×20″. Here are a few of those photos:

Andddddd we’re back!

Well I’m back.

What turned into a huge project [and headache] in my lil’ apartment for two weeks ended on Saturday Feb 5, and I’ve been cleaning up since! Talk about dust…it is [still] everywhere.  I’ll be back mentally in March to continue shoots and all things photography!!

To The UK Michael!!

Well not me actually, but one of my photos!! My former manager, James (cool guy by the way), who resides in London, has printed and framed a New York City skyline photo that I shot back in September 2010.  Shot was taken from Brooklyn Bridge Park, and the photo itself was impressive. Amazed, staring at it in Lightroom, I made it my desktop background at home, at work, and my iPhone background.   But this sepia tone, the framing!!, and how/where it’s hanging [the family dining room] is exciting and just leaves me speechless.  The lighting even gives it a gallery-like appearance.  Thank you!!

New York City Blizzard – December 2010

Andddddd the snow fell, A LOT OF IT! About 16-20 inches reported in the city, 20-30″ outside the city.

So I decided to step out for a few to take some snapshots around my neighborhood.  Couldn’t really go anywhere as the trains are still suspended! So I walked around for about 30-40 minutes randomly shooting.  It’s brutal out, and the wind is crazy!  Here are a few shots [that I know some folks are going to steal]. Enjoy!

Latisha & Joseph’s Wedding Day

So it’s been one week since their wedding day, and I’m sure they are having a blast on their honeymoon!  I still have lots photos to sort though, and have already chosen some faves, so many good ones.  The wedding day, though hectic, was spectacular!  I was there quite early, prior to anyone’s arrival to check out the beautiful Chateau Briand and the Leonardo Da Vinci room in which the ceremony & reception were held.  All of the staff there were courteous and professional, at times I thought it was U.S Secret Service as several folks had earpieces and all for coordination.  I was amazed at how smoothly everything went (and in my opinion, no one was stressed).  Family, friends, and other guests had a great time, I’m sure of it!  Oh, and the DJ did his thing!

I truly enjoy capturing weddings, and Latisha & Joseph’s wedding day has officially confirmed this!  Thanks for choosing me as your wedding photographer.  All the best to you guys and your families!

Lighting Finesse!

Check out the video below, I’ve seen this photo of Tyra Banks on numerous occasions.  Maybe I will  take a stab at trying to create a similar shot in the very near future, and I already have a volunteer ;) .  I don’t have a ring flash [yet], but it’s on my wishlist.

Lighting is key, lighting is difficult and can make or break a photograph!

Stay Tuned…

A few photos from Latisha & Joseph’s [11.27.2010] wedding day will be posted soon.  A lot of photos to go through, but busy with my day j.o.b!  Saturday, I’ll be spending some time in the editing booth.

Here’s a sneak peek! Lol!

Struggles Corp, They’re Back!!

Okay, they weren’t really gone ;) , but the ladies from Struggles Corp are back in action, hosting a Couples Night event to raise money to feed the less fortunate during the Thanksgiving holiday. I was once again asked to provide photography for the event, and as always, a good time, plenty of laughs, food, drinks, and a nice turn out!  Great job ladies!

More to come from these ladies and here’s the slideshow on Flickr!

This Panasonic advertisement for the Lumix G2 nearly had me in tears from laughing so hard.  You’d just have to understand photography to get it! :-D

Good Goodies!!

Yesterday afternoon, I did a shoot with a great couple who have an expanding business with their vegan and gluten-free treats.  For starters, two items were shot, their apple and banana loaves, and after the shoot was over, I was able to sample (and keep) them both, and THEY… ARE… GOOOOOD! Good as in you can sit in a corner and eat the entire thing.  Later on, one of my friends stopped by and I had her taste them both, I think her eyes rolled towards the back of her head.  She took the fork from me and helped herself! :)

I’m looking forward to working with them and tasting more of their goodies.  They are working on revamping their website and getting the word out to various bakeries and establishments.  Check them out at www.DEGoodGoodies.com.

Update 11/7/2010:  Shared the apple loaf with my mother, and she was quite impressed! “Wow, this is really good!”

Shoutout To My Sis (Again)

Last week Wednesday, she was inducted into the National Honors Society at her Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School.  She’s been doing her thing as usual, with her 91.6 average.  Sunday was the awards ceremony, and of course I was there with the camera. NO FLASH!
Congrats again sis!!

Engagement Party Photos: Latisha & Joseph

I’m a few days late in posting (must…focus…on…job…that…pays…da…bills lol), but here are a few photos from the engagement party on Sat, Oct. 23 in Elmont, New York.  Good people/family, good food, and definitely a good time!  Countdown to the wedding day now…boy oh boy!

Engagement Photos: Latisha & Joseph

It was a fun Saturday afternoon at the windy Brooklyn Bridge Park with these two lol.  Then sun helped with the warmth, and when everyone is a clown, things just flow so much nicer.  They’re a great couple, and it shows in their photos.  Next stops… their engagement party on October 23rd, followed by their wedding day on November 27th.  They pretty much own me for the next 2-3 months!

No one said it would be easy! :)

note: quality has been reduced by dimensions for smaller file sizes.

A Few Photos: Sweet 16

I’ve had a very busy I.T. work week, so I have not been able to get into the editing “booth”.  From my sister’s Sweet 16, here are three, I’ll likely wrap this up hopefully by Sunday night and post an official album.

NICE!

Gone Shootin’

Later this afternoon, I’ll be meeting up with Joseph & Latisha for their engagement photos! Should be lots of fun.   Stay tuned for some photos!  Their wedding day is Nov. 27th, which I’ll also be shooting.  It’s a BIG ONE!

Have a great weekend everyone!  If you’re a photog, have that camera handy! :)

My Sweet 16 Sis!

She use to be a little kid, now she’s 16 and the photo speaks for itself…lol.  Nia stopped by this weekend to take some photos for this program we’re putting together for her Sweet 16 event occurring next month, 10.10.10.  We took photos of her in a dress/gown, but the pink shirt was her outfit to/from the shoot and was unplanned. Came out pretty cool I think!

I e-mailed all the photos, now it’s her job to choose ONE for the program to be designed (along with a co-sign from mommy dearest!).  Pays to have your brother as your photographer…haha. :)

Yes, You Would See Me Cry…

I’ve seen this video a million times, mainly because of friends (Thanks!) and each time I see it, it is just a jaw-dropping and a painful experience to watch.

Why you ask?  The Camera Gear!  The Camera Gear! The Camera Gear! I think I would seriously start crying (after everything is out of the water, myself included, and CF cards pulled); perform a “walk of shame” to the ZipCar for the extra change of clothes, all while dumping any photos to the laptop.  My day would be over. Perhaps I should start saving for a 3rd body (5DMkII) and throw in a snazzy G12.  After all, Mike does use Canon equipment! ;-)

Saturday Night Stroll

While I was out thinking of locations for an upcoming engagement shoot in October, I decided to hang out at the Brooklyn Promenade for a bit (a favorite location to sit, relax, read and/or listen to music, and shoot of course).  I then made my way down to Brooklyn Bridge Park and created the following images with the use of my trusty tripod.  It was a cool night out, the night sky was clear, there were lots folks out, couples strolling, and kids playing.  All and all, it was a relaxing and productive evening.  Just what I needed.

Yea, I’m going to choose this area and Brooklyn Heights in general for the engagement shoot. Should be fun and we’ll make it work.  Gettin’ a little nippy out.

Always thinking of a master plan! :)

9.11 Offensive with C.H. Reed

We (Mr. Reed & I) jokingly intended to offend everyone on 9.11.2010, and I think we did lol.  I’ve been pressuring this guy to do a shoot for almost a year.  I’ve seen him in photos wearing suits or simply “cleaned up” and said we should shoot.  You’ve seen Mr. Reed before, appearing in shoots I’ve done for/with Nevaeh Jeans Company.  This time, it was all about him!

Evelyn & Orazio’s Wedding Day

September 4th 2010:  Biggest wedding I’ve done by myself so far, no bridal party, but plenty of guests.  Held at the fabulous Jericho Terrace in Mineola, New York.  The day started around 1pm at the bride’s house, and ended at 12:30a (Sun).  The venue was amazing and it was a beautiful day for a wedding.  The ceremony was beautiful, and the reception was mind-blowing!

Lots of photos were taken, and now the real work begins.  I am hopeful that they will like the end result of their special day…the wedding album.

Will I do it again?  Yep! :)

Just A Little TFCD…

I like networking, networking is beneficial to everyone.  On Saturday 8/28, I met with with J.Jordan, a makeup artist who’s starting out and wants to get into the swing of things.  So we did a little shooting, and the shots were looking great, and the makeup was looking good too.  Thanks to all those who participated.

Here are three [unedited] photo, more to come as I play catchup from my computer being down for 3 days. :(
